Thanks Given'er @ Fort Nugent Park

The best new venue in the Cascade Cross quiver for a number of reasons, the double-header at Fort Nugent Park is hosted by our friends in the Whidbey Island Bicycle Club and the gracious City of Oak Harbor. This twisty, hilly, challenging course was discovered and designed by Brad Nelson, who was the winner of the Mens B category in 2013, SS Men overall in 2014, and the proud manager of the new branch of Skagit Cycles in Oak Harbor.

The park includes wide trails as part of an 18-hole golf course (think Cornwall), abundant parking, good bathrooms, and a HUGE kids playground. Definitely worth the 1 hour drive from Bellingham and a fun way to expand the range of this local series!

In 2015, the Cascade Cross Series is returning to the welcoming city of Oak Harbor and the unbelievably nice venue of Fort Nugent Park for a December double-header! Bring your kids to experience the amazing playground. Bring your cyclocross bike to experience the adult playground that is some incredible & challenging terrain which will be interesting in both directions! One way Saturday, the other direction on Sunday. You might call this the Island County Cyclocross Championships!

If you didn't make it to the perfect debut in 2014, go read the race report from TheHoleshot.ca, complete with an excellent photo gallery (where the images you see here were sourced).

Start line address:
2075 SW Fort Nugent St., Oak Harbor, WA 98225
A pleasant 60 minute drive from Bellingham with beautiful views of Whidbey Island and Deception Pass!
Only about 60 miles from Seattle if you take the Mukilteo ferry!

Schedule:
Same standard racing on the usual Cascade Cross schedule both days, just in different directions!

Bibs & Chip Timing:
Red Tent is back! After encountering them at the Enduro of Subdued Excitement in mid-October... and after some struggles with devising our own timing system... and after receiving much higher attendance levels then last year... we decided we need and can afford them again! For simplicity's sake in adopting their new cyclocross setup, we are reissuing plain old bib numbers 1-400 to everyone because they match the chip numbers. You can bring back your old one because the timing chip on the back has value to us. Your deposit dollars still apply, so return the chip and get your $5! They will be affixed to your helmet. You cannot have any other chips on your person during the race (why would you? all other series are over). They will be clipped off as soon as you cross the finish line. They will be reissued on Sunday.

Women's Clinic:
Kirsten Jenson and Kristi Berg are back with the Queens of Dirt CX Cyclocross Clinic on Sunday! These have been quite popular at previous Cascade Cross races. Get your race warmup on with these skilled & friendly ladies!

Restaurant & Lodging Deals:
We have several special local businesses stepping up to welcome cyclocross into the Oak Harbor community!

Flyers Restaurant & Brewery will be serving soup, burgers, and hot dogs at the event. After the event, they will honor a $5 gift card given to all customers of their food cart!

The Best Western is setting aside 20 rooms for the rate of $98/room. Reservations are first come, first serve! After Dec. 1 any rooms unreserved will be offered to other customers. Just say you're with the bike race!

Candlewood Suites in Oak Harbor is offering a special rate of $89 per night (normally $120 or so) but will not withhold any rooms for us. Just say you're with the bike race!

Prizes:
Port Townsend Cyclery is donating prizes for 1st Place finishers in all categories on Sunday! We will award them at the Registration table after race results are finalized.
